What payments are included in PayPal TPV?

TPV measures completed payments, net of reversals, on PayPal’s platform or enabled through a partner payment solution. It excludes gateway-only transactions. The figure represents payment value moving through the supported network, rather than PayPal’s own sales.

How do TPV, transaction count and take rate fit together?

Divide TPV by payment transactions to estimate average payment size for the period. Transaction revenue divided by TPV measures transaction take rate. Together, these measures separate changes in payment frequency, ticket size and monetization.
